Oakston Community Rules – Discord & Forums

Welcome to the Oakston Community! To ensure a positive and respectful environment for everyone, we’ve put together a set of rules that apply across both our Discord server and forums. Please review and follow these guidelines to maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all.


1. Be Respectful

Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Discrimination, hate speech, harassment, or any form of bullying is strictly prohibited. This includes insults or inflammatory language based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or any other personal characteristic.

  • Do: Engage in civil discussions, even when disagreeing.
  • Don’t: Attack, insult, or target others with derogatory comments.
  • Discord Specific: Do not treat someone differently based on race, sex, or religion.

2. Set Your Discord Nickname Properly

On Discord, your nickname must match your Roblox Username with proper capitalization and no abbreviations. This makes it easier to identify and communicate with you.

  • Do: Always use your full Roblox username as your Discord nickname.

3. No Spamming or Advertising

Keep conversations relevant and meaningful. Spamming of any kind, including repetitive messages, off-topic posts, mic spamming, or unsolicited promotions, is not allowed.

  • Do: Contribute thoughtful posts and comments.
  • Don’t: Post the same message repeatedly, mic spam, or advertise products/services without permission.
  • Discord Specific: Making loud or continuous noises over the mic or excessive @'ing is forbidden.

4. Follow the Content Guidelines

All posts and content should be appropriate for all members. Keep language clean and avoid posting inappropriate or explicit material, such as NSFW content, gore, or references to such material.

  • Do: Share content that’s suitable for the entire community.
  • Don’t: Post NSFW content, offensive material, or links to harmful websites.
  • Discord Specific: NSFW content includes gore, pornography, and other related content.

5. No Trolling or Disruptive Behavior

Intentional trolling, derailing conversations, or disrupting discussions is not acceptable. Keep debates constructive and focused, and avoid toxic behavior.

  • Do: Encourage healthy, on-topic discussions.
  • Don’t: Post inflammatory comments just to provoke or annoy others.
  • Discord Specific: Do not target someone to provoke them by any means, and avoid being toxic in text/voice channels.

6. Respect Privacy

Do not share personal information about yourself or others, including real names, addresses, phone numbers, or any other sensitive information.

  • Do: Protect your own privacy and respect the privacy of others.
  • Don’t: DOX or expose anyone’s personal data, including photos, names, or sites.

7. Keep Channels and Threads On-Topic

Each channel and forum section has a specific purpose. Please stay on-topic and post in the appropriate sections.

  • Do: Read the channel descriptions and follow thread topics.
  • Don’t: Post unrelated content in the wrong areas or derail ongoing conversations.
  • Discord Specific: This is an English-speaking server; please keep conversations in English and use the appropriate channels.

8. Watch Your Mic and Language

When using voice channels, be mindful of background noise. Use push-to-talk or mute yourself if necessary. Cursing is allowed, but keep it to a minimum and avoid offensive or discriminatory language.

  • Do: Use push-to-talk or mute when needed.
  • Don’t: Use racist, sexist, or highly offensive language.
  • Discord Specific: Cursing is allowed but limited to mild language.

9. Use Appropriate Profile Pictures & Content

Your profile pictures, banners, and any media you share must be appropriate. This includes avoiding NSFW images, gore, or any content relating to terrorism.

  • Do: Keep your profile and shared content appropriate for the community.
  • Don’t: Post or use images related to pornography, gore, or terrorism.

10. No Impersonation

Do not impersonate other members, moderators, or officials. Impersonation causes confusion and may lead to disciplinary action.

  • Do: Be yourself and use your own identity.
  • Don’t: Pretend to be someone else or claim official status without permission.

11. No Jokes About Tragedies

Joking about real-life tragedies or sensitive events is strictly forbidden. This can cause distress to other members and will not be tolerated.

  • Do: Be mindful of others’ experiences and feelings.
  • Don’t: Make light of real-world tragedies in conversation.

12. Manipulation of Rules is Forbidden

Do not attempt to manipulate or twist the rules to gain an advantage or provoke moderators. Such behavior will be treated as a violation.

  • Do: Follow the spirit of the rules, not just the letter.
  • Don’t: Attempt to target or provoke moderation by bending the rules.

13. Follow Moderator Instructions

Respect the authority of Oakston’s moderators and admins. If a moderator issues a warning or gives instructions, please follow them promptly.

  • Do: Ask questions if you’re unsure about a rule or request.
  • Don’t: Ignore or argue with moderators about enforcement actions.

14. Report Rule Violations

If you see someone breaking the rules, report the issue to a moderator or admin instead of engaging with them directly.

  • Do: Use the reporting tools responsibly.
  • Don’t: Publicly call out other members or start arguments over rule violations.

15. Have Fun and Contribute Positively!

We’re all here to enjoy the Oakston community. Be kind, get involved, and help create a positive environment for everyone.

  • Do: Be a welcoming and positive member.
  • Don’t: Engage in toxic behavior or create a negative atmosphere.

By participating in the Oakston Discord or forums, you agree to follow these rules. Repeated violations may result in temporary or permanent bans. Let’s keep our community a great place for everyone!
