Preamble
We, the people of Oakston, in recognition of our unique heritage—formed through American liberty and British order—do establish this Constitution. We honor our creators, the Founders, as guardians of Oakston’s identity and pledge unity under their ceremonial guidance and the laws of this land.
Article I — The Founders (Ceremonial Monarchy)
Section 1 — Identity and Authority
The Founders are the original developers of Oakston. As creators of the realm, they serve as perpetual ceremonial monarchs, forming the highest constitutional authority in the land. Together, they are the Founders’ Council.
Section 2 — Composition and Succession
The Council is composed of exactly 2 Founders.
Each holds their position for life or until voluntary abdication.
A Founder may name a successor with consent of the other Founder and a 2/3 vote in Parliament.
No additional Founders may be added unless approved by both Founders.
Section 3 — Powers of the Founders
Ceremonial Duties
Preside over official events and national holidays
Grant honors, titles, and Orders of Oakston
Endorse official flags, seals, and documents
Constitutional Powers
Approve the Governor-General’s appointment
Remove the Governor-General by unanimous vote + majority of Parliament
Suspend Parliament for up to 30 days in emergencies
Issue a Royal Stay delaying any bill for 14 days
Override a Supreme Court ruling with unanimous consent + 2/3 Parliament vote
Emergency Authority
Declare a Royal Emergency (72 hours max)
Issue Founders’ Decrees valid for 90 days unless overturned
Assume control over ministries temporarily during crisis
Appoint a temporary Emergency Regent if the government is incapacitated
Article II — The Governor-General (Executive Authority)
Section 1 — Role
The Governor-General is the executive head of Oakston, appointed by the British Monarch from a shortlist approved by the Founders and Parliament. Serves a renewable 6-month term.
Section 2 — Powers and Duties
Enforce laws and oversee ministries
Appoint officials, judges, and ambassadors
Sign or veto legislation
Issue executive orders (90 days max unless ratified)
Declare local states of emergency (30 days max with Founders’ approval)
Section 3 — Removal
The Governor-General may be removed by unanimous vote of Founders + majority in Parliament
Article III — Parliament of Oakston (Legislative Authority)
Section 1 — Structure
Unicameral body with 20 elected Members (MPs)
Each MP serves a 4-month term
Presided over by a Speaker of Parliament, elected by MPs
Section 2 — Powers
Draft and pass legislation
Confirm executive and judicial appointments
Approve national budget
Declare war or ratify treaties
Impeach government officials
Section 3 — Legislative Process
Step 1: Introduction
Bill may be introduced by any MP, the Governor-General, or citizen petition (50+ signatures)
Step 2: Committee Review
Debated and amended in committee before floor presentation
Step 3: Floor Vote
Simple majority to pass
2/3 majority required for constitutional or budget amendments
Step 4: Executive Review
Governor-General may sign or veto
Veto can be overridden with 2/3 Parliament vote
Step 5: Founders’ Royal Review
Founders may delay any bill by 14 days using a Royal Stay
Article IV — Judiciary
Section 1 — Structure
Supreme Court of Oakston (7 Justices)
Lower courts: Civil, Criminal, and Magistrate Courts
Section 2 — Powers
Interpret laws and Constitution
Hear appeals and civil disputes
Strike down unconstitutional legislation
Section 3 — Appointments
Justices nominated by Governor-General and confirmed by Parliament
Serve until retirement or impeachment
Article V — Constitutional Amendments
Section 1 — Proposal
May be proposed by:
2/3 vote in Parliament
A national convention called by Parliament + Founders
Public petition (100+ signatures)

Article VI — National Identity
Flag: A merged design representing both American and British roots
Anthem: Official – “God Save the King”; Unofficial – “Country Roads”
Motto: “Unity Through Legacy”
Seal: Founders’ Emblem used on all official documents
Article VII — Rights of Citizens
All citizens are guaranteed:
Freedom of speech, press, religion, and assembly
Right to vote, run for office, and petition government
Fair trial and due process
Protection from unlawful searches or arrests
Dual citizenship (with restrictions)
Right to protest and seek redress of grievances

Article VIII — Supremacy Clause
This Constitution is the supreme law of the Crown State of Oakston.
All officials, laws, and decrees must conform to it unless overridden under the lawful emergency authority of the Founders.
